What a wonderful remark; what awful consequences. When read alone, it is truly a wonderful remark, but when read in the context of when it was spoken, it clearly shows the true horrific state of affairs this earth was in - a state of affairs equal to today. Only Noah found grace in the eyes of our Lord - and no-one else had! Noah was saved, along with his family (something to think about in terms of the extent of grace), but no one else. Today is exactly like the days of Noah. Jesus states that the end will come just as it came in the days of Noah (not by flood but by other means — see the Book of Revelation): "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, (Matthew 24:37-38 NKJV). Grace is afforded to us through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the acceptance that he paid the price for our sin. Grace is a free unwarranted gift, kindness, a favour, often in the form of mercy — and this certainly applies to all humans in regard God. It is something one cannot earn as Scripture states: "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8 NKJV). Are you read for God's return?
