Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.
Titus was to teach 'what accords with [or what is] sound doctrine [or teaching]'. There is a distinct lack of sound teaching today, in our churches. Teaching now accords to what is not sound; that is not from Scripture - as Paul tells Timothy; For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths (2 Timothy 4:3-4). These change the doctrine to suit themselves, ignoring God's word, driven by greed, foolishness, the lust for power and pride (Mark 7:21-22). They turn from the truth and listen to their own wicked and evil passions (2 Thes. 3:1-2). These teachers profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work. (Titus 1:16).
