1 Peter 4:7-11

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins." Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

In view of this end of all that we see, we ought to be sober, and watch in order to pray.
We should have the heart focused on God, who changes not, who will never pass away, and who preserves us through all the difficulties and temptations of this passing time; and expecting the day of deliverance at any time.
We should be allowing ourselves to be carried away by present and visible things, we must take control of self and commune with God in prayer. A selfless person will exhibit love, especially among those of the church, because they are saved, and it was Christ, through love who saved them. This love needs to be "fervent"; not just long-suffering, but with much energy for one to another-of the heart-setting aside "self" [or the flesh]—not grumbling but from a heart or peace.
