Whatever the evolutionists may teach, you have a soul which is immortal. That is, you have a part of you, which is the very ‘you’ which does not die with your mortal and corrupt body. The Bible is very clear, you (that is your soul) will be judged after you die[1], and indeed, death is the commencement of that judgement, and if found to be imperfect - found to have sinned in any way, based on the commandments and ordnances God - you will be punished. That punishment is Hell at the last judgement.
And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire [which is called hell]. Revelation 20:15
The Bible is very clear – there is absolutely nothing a human can do to either not sin, or pay the price for any sin committed. No human is simply good enough. You need to be saved or else you will go to Hell.
Sin makes you imperfect, and there is no-one that has not sinned. This means no person ever born, except Jesus Christ, has or is acceptable to God and therefore must be judged. Indeed, from birth we are born with a ‘sin-nature’ by virtue of the fact we are all descendants of Adam who sinned;
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)
Overall, humans have no capacity to make themselves ‘good’ let alone ‘perfect’. Indeed, humans are naturally opposed to God, and indeed, warring against Him. It is only through the divine intervention of Jesus Christ can you be made acceptable to God.
Since we have all sinned we will all be judged, for which the punishment is everlasting punishment in Hell. This judgement takes place after the nations are judged.
And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. (Revelation 20:12)
As can be seen the punishment for sin is death, and on judgement by Christ, sinners will be sent to an everlasting punishment in the lake of burning fire where those that opposed God are placed (sinning is being in opposition to God).
God has taken the initiative to provide a solution to the problem of humans not being able to save themselves – because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
This has occurred because the Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua the Messiah, has borne the punishment for sin – he has paid the price in full, in that he who was perfect, and thus has never sinned, died in our place by being crucified, shedding his blood (proof of death is the fact he lost all his blood). The free gift of salvation is called grace, because it is undeserved favour and offered to all.
For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. (Romans 5:6)
This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. (1 Timothy 1:15)
This is the same as if, after committing a criminal offence, someone else offers to pay the fine, or go to gaol for you. You therefore have a choice, reject the offer and pay the price or allow this benevolent friend to pay the price for you. This Jesus Christ has done this for us, in that he has paid the price of sin in full, and now awaits your acceptance of this payment.
Jesus Christ…whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood [that is, became the substituted for us], through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, Romans 3:25
This is not thrust upon you – you have a choice, pay the price yourself (go to hell) or believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (and be saved from Hell). Only faith in Christ can save you.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
(John 3:16)
And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Acts 2:210)
In short hell is the place God built to deal with Satan and the one third of angels that opposed the Lord God Most High. The place is described as being a lake of brimstone – which is a foul sulphurous compound that burns, found in the Middle East.
The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. (Revelation 20:10)
However, since Satan and his angels are not the only beings that opposed God, the Lord will use Hell to deal with any person who is in opposition to Him, which are those that do not believe the Jesus Christ is the Son of God the Messiah. (Note that at death a person is either sent to Hades – a place of torment, hot and dark - awaiting final judgment or paradise, awaiting for the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, who will take believers into heaven itself).
This is a rhetorical question, because since our sin has been paid for in full there is no need for anyone to go to hell – you only have to put your faith and trust in the Messiah, (Yeshua, that is, the Lord Jesus Christ). Thus, the only people going to hell are those that opposed God and volunteer not to accept the only acceptable way of salvation believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:15)
But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed.
And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, "Do yourself no harm, for we are all here."
Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Acts 16:25-31
[1] Death is the cessation of the mortal body, but not the spirit; your soul will be either in Hades or Paradise at death, then after judgment either Hell or Heaven.
