1 John 2:15-17

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

This world-system in every aspect, whether we call it the social world, the political world, the commercial world, the scientific world, the religious world - none of it is not of the Father. None of its glory is of the Father. The love of the world is, therefore, inconsistent with the love of the Father. The controlling principles in it are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life (2 John 2:16). May we remember once more that our Lord speaks concerning His own: "They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world."
