Psalm 118: 1-4, 14-17

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.
Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.
The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.

This is the gate of the LORD, Through which the righteous shall enter.
I will praise You, For You have answered me, And have become my salvation.

This psalm was the last which the Jews sang, before the Lord with His disciples on that memorable night when He was betrayed, went to the Mount of Olives. Jesus when speaking to the chief priests and elders applied this Psalm to Himself. The Psalm begins with thanksgiving for His mercy manifested towards Israel in their deliverance. We read, "This gate is the LORD’s, the righteous shall enter [through] it." It is Christ the door, through which all must enter, as every sinner must use Him as the gate, the door of salvation.
