Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them.

This exhortation is an all-important message for these Hebrews as well as Christians of today.  The Jews needed to leave their system of rules that attempted to prevent violation of the Law, which had been fulfilled in Christ; they were contrary to the gospel in every way. For Christians today, so called spirituality is solely associated with flesh and always self-looking has corrupted the church. Whether man-made rituals of Christendom with its man-made priesthood, its confusing (God is never confusing) ordinances that sow inequity and division, or its legal principles, that form the worst form of apostate Christendom (the so call orthodox church), along with systems and sects, is but another camp (Hebrews 13:11, 13) in which the truth of Christ and His all sufficient work is denied. Keep to the Bible – it is sufficient - For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (Heb 4:12)
