And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind.
And God saw that it was good.
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.
And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
We see here that one God (the Lord God) made all things including the animals. He created humans to have a relationship with Himself and to manage the world. Note that having dominion over the world does not mean destroying the planet through greed, extracting everything useful and wasting everything else; but rather to tender and nurture the environment for God's glory.
'The book of beginnings' or Genesis in our Bible establishes the purpose of humans - man and woman were created in His image and for His purpose, to have a relationship with Him. Our response must be in humbleness; we need to take our responsibilities seriously. God is a God we can trust - unlike humans, whose sinfulness makes them untrustworthy.
