Behold, the day of the LORD comes, Cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, To lay the land desolate; And He will destroy its sinners from it. For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not give their light; The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine. "I will punish the world for its evil, And the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud, And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

What the world finds so hard to accept - a loving God that judges sin; yet the truth that the wages of sin is death is based on true justice. Those that oppose the creator will be judged (Revelation 18 etc.). Those that believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved (John 3:16). Note the above verse occurs in the final judgement of seven years - the Church will not be found here (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18), however, those that put their faith and trust in God in the last days will be saved, but suffer much (Rev 17:6).
