Colossians 2:8-10

See to it that there is no one who takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception in accordance with human tradition, in accordance with the elementary principles of the world, rather than in accordance with Christ.
For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over every ruler and authority.

The traditions of man? Just read the papers or examine almost any social media; they have no answer to the issues of living. They do not comprehend death and hate the idea of life after death – where judgement will take place. They cannot comprehend God, the creator of the earth including every individual. Here the warning is about the love of human wisdom, called philosophies, which cannot have an absolute truth, and changes on a whim. Wordily wisdom sounds good; even plausible and appears to offer answers to all issues – but are proven every time to be empty, hopeless, false and fake. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life – in him all things exist and all things consist (Col. 1:17). A Christian can be made complete (perfect of finished), when in Christ – sanctification moves a believer towards holiness; to move forward rather than regress, the Apostle Paul says, away from worldly wisdom.
