For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil

Luke 16:13

"No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money."

How does one do this: Paul tells Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:11-12).

O man of God, flee these things. [Leave it, move away, don't even think about it.]

Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. [Put all your emotional intelligence to work; it's an active response. The temptation is everywhere; we have to actively seek what is right.]

Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. [Reflect on the confession that Jesus Christ is our Lord (1 Tim 6:15) and fix your eyes on Jesus - this is a daily, perhaps an hourly action that we need to all undertake.]
