If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

If any of you lacks wisdom: trials bring about reason to seek wisdom from God. It is during trials and times of difficulty we often find we lack wisdom; especially as to the question of whether we are to face the trial head-on and eliminate or deal with it, or it is a trial of perseverance. This takes wisdom rather than knowledge; as it is wisdom that tells us how to use knowledge.
