Psalm 34:11-14

Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. What man is there who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

We must (as Apostle James also says), guard careful with great diligence the tongue, because it can, without thinking, utter evil, which can result in evil being hurled back, wrecking the enjoyment you will have of your life. One cannot spout evil without it rebounding and burning your own body.

So, depart evil; turn away from it. He who does good, can avoid evil. Its more than taking your hands off, its departing and moving away; change your attitude and set a great distance between you and the instrument of temptation to do evil. Follow peace although it may not follow you: our peace is in the knowledge that the wrath of God will not befall a believer.
