Psalms 94:17-19

If the LORD had not been my help, my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence. When I thought, "My foot slips," your steadfast love, O LORD, held me up. When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.

Without God's help the Psalmist declares that he should have died outright, and gone into the silent land, where he would bear no more fruit for the living God. Blessed be God, we are not left to that condition; He is still the helper of all those who look to Him in faith. A believer may physically fall, for we are all still in our flesh, which is weak, but Jehovah holds up those who are spiritual slipping. When I am tossed to and fro with various reasonings, distractions, questionings, and forebodings, I will fly to my true rest, for "your consolations cheer my soul." When Jesus enters ourlife, and whispers "peace be unto you" there is a calm, and much bliss.
