"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Where is your heart: pleasing self or your Heavenly Father? Are you gaining riches on earth, which can be lost in a second, and certainly will rot away when you die, or is your life of worship of God focused on His work, He has set for you? The riches accumulated comes from our love for God and our love for one another. Our duty, being bought with a price, is to offer our life a living sacrifice which is our reasonable service (Romans 12:1). This means our life is focused what our Lord wants, not what pleases self. This can be tough - self can be very strong.
