May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony [like-minded] with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
This passage gives three instructions concerning the weak Christian: 1. To receive the weak, but not to doubtful disputations; which means this is not about diluting Scripture to suit individual interpretations. 2. Not to judge a saved individual in those things, because he or she is Christ’s servant, and any one must give an account of himself. 3. To bear the infirmities of the weak, to put no stumbling block in their way, not to please ourselves. We are to walk in love and manifest that love by receiving one another as Christ has received us to the glory of God. And blessed are we if we also walk according to those rules and manifest the mind of Christ.
