When the BOM changed their webpage in the 3rd week of October 2025, it appears that getting simple information about the weather has disappeared. Unfortunately the new BOM internet page is quite a mess. The Media reports that some progress has been made to improve the site, but it's still chaotic. Searching say 'wave height' or any other parameter does not prioritise that actual current observation; indeed, in the case of wave height BOM identifies zero pages, although Cape de Couedic station transmits data continously. Important details such as an explantion of the synoptic situation (let alone a synoptic chart) has been buried or lost. Many folk, expecially farmers are very angry.
I wrote this small web page many years ago because I could not easily read the Bureau of Meteorology's web pages on my iPhone. I could have downloaded an app that places summary data on the screen, but I wanted to see, in particular the "precis" pages which explain succinctly the "why" of the current weather. When the BOM changed its website couple of years ago, it was nearly impossible to find the "precis" pages - now called state forecasts. I also could not find the rain summaries for the past 24 hours or week - they are somewhat buried. So this site really contains links to information I use every day which is displayed in simple text format, with the rainfall in a searchable table.
Most recently I added a quick link to the old radar site as the BOM appears incapable of providing a reasonable image on their new site.
